Holy cloud transition, Batman!

While incursion is an overall prettier image, and while expulsion is compositionally quite similar (damn, there's a lot of planet shots on the covers!), the Aeon looks damned sexy. She's on the back instead of the front for the same reason that expulsion-the-scene is technically "optional" - it's a major part of the story, but ultimately (literally) backseat to local events.

Considering all the work I put into that model, and how long getting it finalized and mapped held up production of this half of the story, you can bet I'm going to get as much mileage out of it as I possibly can.

20091031 (2) - Just whipped up a kick-ass temporary cover, which will sit in place of the real cover until I figure out exactly what it's going to look like. At this point the focus is on getting pages done and the second edition story finished - the covers, consequently, are taking a distant back seat to that. I plan to spend the time on new, good, consistent covers when the main book is complete - until then, a PLACEHOLDUHR is more than sufficient.

Admittedly I feel a bit dirty about doing this, but as all the other covers will need to be redone as well*, well... story first, dammit!

* Technically not all - I have two done and backgrounds for two more, which leaves... seven. Seven that need background concepts and rendering, and nine that will need line art. With any luck that'll be a January or February project, parallel to the next edition of the web site.
