This is technically the fourth pass over this scene. "Sketch" edition, "Crap" edition, 3x4 edition, 6x9 edition... the fact that this page and the last haven't needed much in the way of work is one hell of a bonus for me, really. Straight ports for both, with new, slightly-reworded words. Words I may change later, in favor of something a bit more expositional and a bit less.... French.

Well. The redux is missing the ass shot, which I wanted to do (but will probably save for the polarity edit this spring/summer), but the whole purpose of the original page composition was to establish location. Since there's an entire scene that takes care of that now, I'm able to refocus the page into the end of the chapter and a thematic transition into descent, which will be the first scene of Chapter One after the dust settles.

Originally hammering -5-, done 30 May 2003 and back-published 2003-05-23. First use of the Blade Runner Eyeball Panel- something that has been horribly, horribly abused in the past, and something I'm working hard to steer clear of these days.

Point of amusement - I've gotten a number of derogatory comments about Val's ass from male readers... and a number of complements / supportive comments about said element from female readers. Any fanboi who's wondering why he's not getting laid needs to get some perspective - the vast majority of healthy women do not come in the shape marvelimageDC artists draw them in. Real girls come in a wide variety of curves - the sooner you accept this and move on the sooner you'll get to see those curves.

Hammering on the Gates of Nothing -5-

Whack the old rant and replace with a 30 May update: Another redesign of the layout- this time more time on ink, and a better understanding of cel shading. Next page won't have the funky backgrounds, so I can finally start working with "normal" squares and rectangles. o_o And lighting, for that matter.

Not without flaws, but this time around I'm done strugging with the actual act of cel shading and am now working with defucking my hands and learning how to wield the new technique effectively.

Hammering is now completely revamped. Onward!
