Lots of unusable space has been strategically cropped - mostly Thad's shoulders and some chunks of wall. This mitigated scaling issues, but didn't save the page from an overabundance of awkward black space. Something the original had as well. In the case of the first edition it was more trying to balance "arty" with "not wanting to shop backgrounds." In the case of the second edition, the black space can be attributed to being sick of touching up backgrounds. It was necessary for callback and some earlier scenes - in this case, the whole scene has space utilization issues, so I can slack on filling it in the name of consistency.

Whoo. This one went together weird. Frameup, lettering, and backgrounds for the first four panels were done Friday night... line work was pencilled and inked while hanging out with Mad_Jester. He went home, I got things scanned in and colored and took an inbound phone call from my friend Roy, who I'm doing film edits with. Started at the bottom and worked my way back- had frames five, four, and three done by the time he showed up... got two done while he was getting food, and put one together while Final Cut Pro was throwing up on renders. Easily the most broken-up a production session has been to date.

On the upside, it's done! :D And it didn't turn out nearly as badly as I feared it might (not to say it isn't hemmoraging flaws out the rectum, but hey.). One of these days I'll get the optimal distance on cheekbone shading nailed, and faces will stop looking as odd as they do.

And then! A few years after that, I'll get hands figured out. They continue to beat me about the head and neck with a haddock. As do nifty little convergance problems, such as the bit with the antenna and the X.
