convergence -12-

Replaced the first panel to match with the environment of the previous pages. More blue balances with the diagnostics thinger quite nicely, I think. Also, this "gearing up" sequence is no longer dialogue-free filler, thanks to the aforementioned bugs. I felt like such a smug bastard when I omitted Raven's briefing in the first edition... it wasn't until much, much later that I realized that the space could be put to practical use. Once DCR has been completely produced, a lot of the context for this will fit - for those who'll be reading from The Beginning (once there IS one), this is the point where you indirectly find out what John's been up to for the past five years.

Minor cleanup - boob correction in panel two, some nose and glasses work in panel five. The focal panel hasn't been touched at all - it was all the work in the world the first time out, and I think it's held up fairly well, all things considered.

Well. This one wasn't exactly easy by any stretch, even though it's lean on dialogue and character. Pushing the whole experimentation thing further- had the ideas for layout a couple of days ago and refined them slowly last night.

The landscape was coughed out of VDR and modified in Photoshop to get exactly what I wanted- namely levels and brush. The few of you who've seen Drone should find this familiar.

The diagnostic panel for the cybernetic maintenance tank (what Xand was using in her first appearance) was a bit more tedious- namely the x-ray of the hand, which was a combination of an actual x-ray I found a ways back and several bits of photographs that I figured looked appropriate. The arm at half of the original size is attached to this new post- much more detail than you can see in page.

Complexity + Minimalism = it still takes awhile and somehow I'm not pissed off at it. For once. Go figure. :D

That aside, I technically missed my "three a week" goal by two hours and twenty minutes- depending on how you measure you week. This means, if everyone's good and I'm lucky, four pages this week. I don't have anything else to do on Friday, so I should be able to get some line work done then, possibly in addition to the rest of my comic goals for this week. We'll see.
