Making space for type again - the only line scaling here was in panel two... which probably wasn't actually necessary, now that I look at it. My eye got hung up on the overlap between Raven and West, and I completely overlooked the fact that there's nothing between Xand and Raven... so I could have scooted Xand left and everyone else right. Despite all of that space-making, I still had to trim a couple of lines of dialogue... which is good, actually - we have a sub-scene break here and the trimmed lines neither lead into the next bit nor forward anything other than West's contempt for his former coworkers.

Minor actual cleanup. To do more would be to invoke madness.

===================================================

I feel old.

New page. And a little thinger to celebrate 24 solid years of uptime, with the occasional destabilized system, wrecked window manager, memory corruption, defrag and what have you.

Party on, Garth!

In other news....

"Unhappy" would be a good way to describe my feelings for this page- too many figures meant too much time pencilling and inking, which added a good two hours to production.... and somehow Raven magickally gained forty pounds for the last frame, which just ain't koo. I can't seem to keep West from looking like a mutant, which is frustrating- and Raven shifted close to another character tonight- likely due to my haste to get things moving.

Folks, these things take about five hours at minimum. Why I think cutting corners on pencils and inks will speed things up is totally beyond me. I've been drawing Raven and Xand for years, off and on- the Old Version Of West for nearly as many, and a helmeted Tantek for about the same period of time. Now West has been changed and Tantek has his helmet off, and I'm in unfamiliar terroritory. Radical changes are likely over the next couple of weeks as I attempt to nail both of these guys down solid.

But. It's my birthday, dammit. So fuck disappointment- I'm doing a webcomic, and I've done a lot of other neat things with my life this past year- carbon_, mastered a DVD for a film that won a few awards, and a bunch of other stuff... the main thing being this- as crappy as this page is, the fact that it's done, I see the flaws, I'm aware of how I fucked myself over on this one, and all that other good stuff means more to me than anything. "Anything" would include sex, drugs, and rock and roll- all of which are things I've told to fuck right the hell off or get out of my way so I can get ATC into production.

Go me.

So. Got the thing started while I was 23. Mission accomplished. :D Just in time to run out of supplies, no less- my no. 5 Micron is about to barf and I have one sheet of card stock left. Fortunately, my birthday's a payday, so it's double mega ultra happytime for me- I can buy art supplies and put them to use on Friday or Saturday. :)

And actually, after it's up and embedded, it's not as bad as I felt it to be while I was working on it, which is always a good thing. I just need to remember to keep my figure count relatively low and everything will be sane in terms of getting a page done in on one sitting- something I haven't been able to do yet this week. :P

We'll see how I can deal with production details through a hangover tomorrow. :D
