Hunt and peck - I've been working forward on bits that don't need CG and backwards on bits that do, except for this one. Last bit for the weekend of August 01/02 happens to be one with a GLARING FLAW that needed fixing - panel six has been put right, finally. Cropping on panels one and seven in order to fit 2-6 without too much hassle kind of blows the four-by for this one, but at this point it beats the alternatives.

Sidebar to comments below, which are comments made previously and many, many times after: Forty minutes learning Mental Ray in 1998 or 1999 would have shaved maybe three to six MONTHS off of production.
Say it with me now: MONTHS.

Thanks to the wonders of raytracing, renders were somewhere on the far side of seventy hours for this page - most of it sucked up in getting the top and bottom panels set up and proofed. The bottom panel took around thirty and the top took 24 hours and 45 minutes, give or take.
So the fact that the linework and shading took about two and a half hours is something of a relief, really.
I'm out of layouts after the next page, but I'm not out of script - not by a long shot. I'm going to attempt to cheese out and aim for some recyclable backgrounds. There are nine pages left of this scene and I'd love to be done with the whole mess by October, when I can start modeling the next scene and hopefully get into the swing of Dead City Radio.
