One of my favorite pages out of the entire book. I had written a good-sized chunk of "overheard" dialogue for this page - an exchange between Grij and someone and another between Greymalkin and Rayne. It's unnecessary and would be some serious work to fit it in and keep it looking good, so I dropped it.

If you're curious, the exchange amounts to a mutual jawdrop and delegation to prep the recorded data for transmission. I may stick something to that effect in at a later point... as it stands, the dialogue implied that the HRD had a hell of a lot more capability than it actually does - it's a "mental detector" in the sense of a metal detector. A metal detector says "Look! Found something!" Size/mass, not denomination.

Added 20050521 : Backdated so it will list properly with everything else. Haven't worked on a page this late in awhile- I'm completely fried and am having trouble stringing together words into a complete sentence. It's not so much that I'm tired as I'm not used to pushing myself in this capacity at this time on a Friday night - I'm almost invariably either drunk or fast on my way to becoming so, but I'm trying to find better uses for my money these days. So.

This page and the page following it transition between this scene and the first scene of Chapter One. The text, while Relevant, isn't Critical to your enjoyment of the story. The imagery is, I'd like to think, a healthy mix of disturbing and beautiful - the visual of panel one occured to me while I was working out the previous page, and it works much better in a healing/regenerative context than it does as a depiction of invasiveness.
