Pages 8 and 9 of Incursion were introduction -1- and -2- in the first edition. They always felt like a kludge in that position, and while I thought the overall effect was pretty, the retouched pages in their new position do the job a hell of a lot better.

Some heavy lifting to soup the hell out of the tortured GALACTIC EAST splash followed by new renders of the Sabrosa, more touchups, and...

Icing on the cake- setting the stage. First page of a two-page splash. The cover of the chapter was originally designed to mirror this page, which would have made for a nice flowthrough in hardcopy. I'm not a hundred percent satisfied with introduction, however, and may well change the aesthetics around some more in the future.

I'm paying much more attention to layout than I have previously, and I assure you that this page is completely carried by the next.

I'm also working for a bit of aesthetic consistency with later chapters- you'll notice that the first three pages of Signal look a lot like the gooier bits of suction.

In terms of hardcopy, this page is currently the "inside cover" of Chapter Zero. This isn't Quite Right in terms of overall presentation, but at the moment it's Close Enough- something will get slipped in before it during The Edit, no doubt.
