Too bad sarcasm and contempt work so much better in voice*- this page is positively dripping with both, forming a thick layer of frosting on the Exposition Cake.
Art-wise, this is still the definitive shot of Andreissen... and I've done a wee bit of cleanup work on Grij in the bottom panel, removing a snip of shade that didn't need to be there and adding in a bit of highlight that did. It's an awkward shot and could, under different circumstances, merit a redraw.
I think it's pretty obvious that the Captain and the General can't stand each other, in either edition - if anything, they're more obvious about it this time around. In the hands of another writer this could be played up as the lead-in to some kind of focus-stealing romance... fortunately (for all of us!) they really do hate each other. Thus, smoochies get to happen between other characters, at another time.
* Especially an Alan Rickman or David Warner voice, which Grij is presently speaking in.

===================================================
Holy crap I ACTUALLY GOT A PAGE OUT THIS WEEK.
Which sort of verifies my crack on IRC yesterday that I always seem to be hungover when I'm working on ATC. I've been sober the past couple of weeks- or rather, not hungover enough to notice.
Andreissen isn't exactly consistent (In this case, that's good- she looked like ass last page - nevermind the whole hair-length thing. She's on model here and the last page was an abortion. It's been a rough month, dammit, and I'd rather things look How They Should than get stuck following a fuckup for the sake of cohesion. ARGH.), and Grij looks kind of like Lieutenant Commander Data, but hey. It could be worse - I could have used the actual line art I'd prepared of him for the last page. You think the captain's inconsistent, whooshit. You ain't seen nothin'.
So. That's what I get for taking an enforced break. Bit of a slip. I could be more self deprecating, but to do that I'd have to start doing the comic in pencil. I could also bust ass and bust ass and bust ass to make each page perfect, but the goal here is to try to adhere to some sort of realistic production schedule- that is, no more than eight hours a page.
If I'v learned anything in the past eighteen months, it's that I'm about as visually consistent as a kaleidoscope. Not exactly desireable.
It's October now, and I'm a month behind schedule, which sucks ass - I wanted to be halfway through the next scene by now. As it stands, I hope to have Recon done within the next couple of weeks, and be at least partway into the next scene before the end of the month.
:D
Also, I used the Goddamned Eye Shot again. I swore I'd stop doing that.
16:31 <@ejp> looks more like Agent Smith [Bunnie Remix] than data.
16:33 < xeno> "But how can it be your ass when you don't have one?"
16:33 < solios> this is my killing you face.
16:33 < xeno> * Grij covers Andreissen's ass in that stuff what covered Neo's mouth
16:34 < solios> asdf
16:34 < xeno> FRAP
16:34 < xeno> < Andy> Ooh, a balloon!
16:34 < solios> that's it, you're both dead.
16:34 < xeno> :D
