reentry -6-

posted 2009.04.18 at 18:54

Replacement and rework - the top shot has swapped out vehicles. If I'd either hung onto or felt like finding out if I'd hung onto the original shot I could have probably swapped maps and rerendered... instead, I redid it from scratch. No net gain, either way - though I DID spend less time rooting around in the ATC directory tree, so I suppose that's a win.

The last panel is basically a new version of the original... which itself was a massive upgrade of The Worst Page Of All Time (see below). I'm actually writing the blurb before I do the CG work for that shot - it's ready for setup, but I figured I'd flesh out the entries for the last couple of pages I've upgraded before digging further into this one, as it involves getting the earth properly set and lit - a position it's going to stay in for the remainder of the scene. Better to get it right the first time and roll with it, than to bang it out now and realize it needs to be redone later.

20070725 : Vehicle replacement and dialogue tweaks.

Edited 20050504-20050505 : Considering the only goal with this was replacing the original page - which sucked shit through a straw by absolutely ANY standard - I could have wiped my ass on the scanner and uploaded and been done with it. But I decided to spend a little more time on it, and this came out instead. I can't tell if it's decent or not- I'm still dumbstruck by Liefeld's journal and I had to actually READ the previous piece of shit in order to ascertain what dialogue I'd be replacing.

I think I pulled a testicle in the process.

But I got rid of another EYE SHOT, so it's all good.

22:13 <@solios> [ link to this page ] # check out the page that replaces. o_o
22:59 * xeno forgot about that
22:59 <@solios> yes.
22:59 <@solios> well, now it isn't.
22:59 <@xeno> also, Eye of Sauron Part Deux
22:59 <@solios> yep.
23:00 <@solios> part five, actually.
23:00 <@xeno> s/Deux/Duh/
23:00 <@xeno> depends on which order you count them in
23:00 * xeno doesn't believe in sequences
23:00 <@solios> ATC must be quite the experience for you then. :P
23:01 <@xeno> i like how, in the thumbnail, the arm looks like a wang
23:01 <@xeno> or a rocket blasting off

Minor Edit, 200505 Afternoon : Fixed the length of Greg's neck. It's still long, but it's not as long.

22:29 <xeno> yes, but you're like, 1 for whatever
22:29 <xeno> or the other way around.
22:29 <xeno> which ever way is best

===================

A mild improvement over staring at velocity -5- whenever I load ATC. I really wish I still felt as mentally together now as I did when I started the page - with the transition effect - several hours ago. Since then, a swarm of very angry, very empty bees has taken up residence in my lower frontal lobe, resulting in a general state of barely supressed confusion and a complete inability to think straight. Heck, I have to focus now to write this - and the only reason I pushed through and finished the page in the state I'm in is that not only is this beehive-in-the-brain thing something I've suffered nearly every night for the past month, I'm so used to comic production that force of habit can carry me through it even if my brain is completely nonfunctional.

Which it is.

Completely nonfunctional, that is. Might explain the quality of the last several pages. Actually, strike that. There's no might about it. The last five pages have sucked complete ass because something is totally off with my brain and/or body chemistry and I've been fighting a losing battle against it while trying to maintain a normal production schedule - hard to error check when your higher cognitive functions are in a constant state of guassian blur, you're constantly forgetting passwords, which keyboard you're using, which machine has the music... and little things like shading noses or how a face is actually properly drawn.

All of this seems to match up with hypoglycemia. Doesn't surprise me. And I'm going to need to take a more active stance on doing something about it, or the quality of ATC is only going to continue to decline.
