After years of sticking to the nice big BLAM! shot, some interim skooling in physics has won out over The Rule of Cool. Even after the retro burn, the Daedalus is traveling at a ridiculous speed - just slow enough to get snagged by earth's gravity, but fast enough that even at this distance (remember, that's a Damned Big Ship), Naomi has barely enough time to get out of the way.
The shot is less imposing, but (slightly) more scientifically accurate. Though the Daedalus is on a literal straight line to the Sabrosa hangar deck - I know in Really Real physics it would be a curve (thank you, earth), but given the choice between working out the Exact Angle and sitting here drawing porn while the shots render..... well, I figure this is Good Enough.
It's also a nice profile shot of the Sabrosa - and there aren't many of those!
...and, for whatever it's worth - a slight twinge of Deja Vu during the writing of this blurb. which I'm doing well before the page is complete - the bottom panel is good, but at this point the top still needs some photoshop work before it can render.
That's the thing that differs the most about the 2e metadata - It's all written in fits and starts during the editing of a scene (and is largely technical), as opposed to the Blog Entry styled "updates" that were written in the afterglow of initial page publication.
(the next morning - April 1)
The first panel has been rebuilt using the photoshop base of the previous (I'd say original, but see below) version. Those bits were flip-mirrored and a new Daedalus was rendered for consistency.
Man, I wish the Covad guy would show up - I want my internets!
First Edition Metadata
20070725 : Massive, screaming overhaul. The previous edit bragged about below is here.
Edited 20050430 : Added margins and edited the text for continuity. This is, in my opinion, one of my more Mac Hallish images, or was compared to Ian's direction at the time. Might be the use of red/black and the original choice of font, which was horribly inconsiderate of me, as I might have let this page slide if I'd used Orator. :P
The margins were added for consistency - this isn't page one or two of a splash, and the lack of a border looked pretty damned out of place in the hardcopy.

.... and I'm fresh out of script! So despite a week without a comic, it's going to be at least another week before the story continues, if not longer. Thank the GODS I have a complete outline.
And to think, I wanted to get this chapter done before February started. :P
In any case, the last page is finally off of the front, and this one looks a whole heck of a lot better than it did.
SING! AND REJOICE! SING! AND REJOICE!
